What is Trip Tracka?
Trip Tracka is a travel planner and trip expense tracker for people who want to plan routes, build budgets, track fuel, manage gear, record expenses and share trips — anywhere in the world. Plan routes, map stays, track every dollar, manage vehicle maintenance, build packing lists, and coordinate group trips, all in one place.

Is Trip Tracka free to use?
Yes. Trip Tracka has a free Wanderer plan for getting started. Free users can join shared trips. Nomad users can create unlimited shared trips, invite friends, manage shared expenses and unlock advanced group planning tools, plus get unlimited trips, map pins, expenses, advanced fuel tracking, exports, multi-vehicle service schedules, spare parts tracking and priority support.
Can I use Trip Tracka on mobile devices?
Yes. Trip Tracka works on desktop, tablet, and mobile browsers. You can also install it as a Progressive Web App (PWA) on your phone or tablet for a native app-like experience with offline access to your data.
Do I need to download an app?
No app store download is required. Trip Tracka works in your browser, and you can also install it to your phone's home screen as a PWA for a faster app-like experience. Your data syncs securely across all your devices via the cloud.

How does the trip planner work?
Create a trip, add destinations or stops, and Trip Tracka organises your journey with mapped routes, distance calculations, and an interactive itinerary. You can rearrange stops, add waypoints, and view everything on a live map.
Can I add multiple stops to a trip?
Yes. You can create multi-stop road trips with unlimited stops (Nomad plan) or up to 15 map pins (free plan), and rearrange them anytime.
Can I save places I've visited?
Absolutely. Drop pins on locations you've visited and save notes, dates, expenses, and photos. Build your own personal waypoint library to revisit favourite spots.
Does Trip Tracka use live maps?
Yes. Trip Tracka integrates interactive Google Maps to display your travel journey, saved locations, and planned routes with address autocomplete.
Can I upload travel photos?
Yes. Upload and store photos alongside your trips, stops, and travel memories. The Nomad plan includes unlimited photo uploads.
Can I plan trips anywhere in the world?
Yes. Trip Tracka works worldwide. Plan road trips across Australia, New Zealand, the UK, USA, Europe, or anywhere else you roam.
Is there a calendar or itinerary view?
Yes. The Planner page includes a Calendar tab where you can view your trip events, bookings, and stops in a month-by-month grid, and add new events directly from the calendar.

What expenses can I track?
You can track:

Can I see how much my trip cost?
Yes. Trip Tracka automatically totals your expenses by category and overall, so you can see the exact cost of your trip at any time.
Can I track fuel usage and economy?
Yes. The Fuel Cost Tracker lets you log every fill-up with litres, price per litre, total cost, and odometer reading. It automatically calculates fuel economy (L/100km or MPG), cost per kilometre, and running totals per trip and per vehicle.
Does Trip Tracka calculate trip distances?
Yes. Distances between destinations are calculated to help estimate fuel costs and travel time for each leg of your journey.
Can I use different currencies?
Yes. Trip Tracka supports multiple currencies so travellers can track trip expenses across Australia, New Zealand, the UK, USA, Europe and beyond.
Can I attach receipts or invoices to expenses?
Yes. On the Nomad plan you can attach invoice and receipt photos to any expense or service record for easy reference and tax reporting.
Can I import or export my expenses?
Yes. Nomad users can import expenses from CSV and export trips and expenses to CSV or PDF for backups, accounting, or sharing.
Vehicle & Maintenance
Can I save my vehicle information?
Yes. Create vehicle profiles with fuel type, fuel tank capacity, fuel economy estimates, registration details, and notes. The free plan supports one vehicle; Nomad supports unlimited vehicles.
Can I track vehicle maintenance?
Yes. Log servicing, repairs, oil changes, tyre rotations, registrations, and other maintenance events. Set service schedules and receive due-soon alerts so nothing gets missed on the road.
Can I track spare parts and lubricants?
Yes. Maintain a spare parts inventory with quantities, locations, and low-stock alerts. Track lubricants and fluids by vehicle with change dates and quantities.
Can I attach invoices to service records?
Yes. Attach mechanic invoices, parts receipts, and warranty documents directly to service records so everything is in one place.
Gear & Packing
Can I create packing lists?
Yes. The Travel Gear Inventory Tracker lets you build packing lists from ready-made templates (camping, caravan, beach, hiking, and more) or create your own custom templates with icons. Tick items off as you pack.
Can I track the value of my gear?
Yes. Log purchase prices, weights, and quantities for each item so you know exactly what you own and what it is worth.
Can I share packing lists?
Yes. Share packing lists with friends or trip members via a public link so everyone knows what to bring.
Group Trips & Sharing
Can I plan trips with friends or family?
Yes. Free users can join shared trips. Nomad users can create unlimited shared trips, invite friends, manage shared expenses and unlock advanced group planning tools including a collaborative itinerary, shared expense summary and built-in group chat.
Can we chat inside a group trip?
Yes. Every group trip has a built-in chat where members can discuss plans, share updates, and coordinate in real time.
Can I share stays and waypoints with others?
Yes. Share saved locations with friends, or receive shared waypoints from other travellers directly into your trip.
How do shared expenses work?
Trip Tracka calculates each member's share of group expenses and shows a running balance of who has paid what, making it easy to settle up at the end of the trip.
Account & Security
Do I need an account to use Trip Tracka?
Yes. Creating a free account lets you securely save trips, expenses, maps, vehicle data, and gear lists in the cloud and access them from any device.
Is my travel data secure?
Yes. Trip Tracka uses modern security practices, encrypted connections, and Row-Level Security (RLS) on the database so only you (and people you explicitly share with) can access your data.
Can I access my trips from multiple devices?
Yes. Sign in on any device and your trips, expenses, and settings sync automatically via the cloud.
What happens if I lose internet connection while travelling?
Some features like live maps need an internet connection, but your data is cached in the browser and syncs when you reconnect. Installing as a PWA improves offline reliability.
